The Saas Playbook
My book notes
I haven't read a book as good as this in a while... If you're a freelancer you should definitely read this book.

My notes are below:
Fear is a waste of time. There’s another reason entrepreneurs don’t talk to customers: fear—fear that they’re bothering them, fear the customer will say something they don’t want to hear.
The conversations you have with customers will be some of the most valuable time you spend understanding your market.
Recurring revenue protects you during recessions and builds on itself every month. Every business wants recurring revenue, but only some can pull it off.
In Judo, you’re taught to use your opponent’s weight and strength against them. Same in business.
You’re not going to outmuscle or outspend entrenched, well-funded competitors. You need to use their biggest strength (their size) to your advantage.
With big companies comes slowness to react to the market, dated UX, legacy code, and all the competitive disadvantages we discussed. If they’ve been dominating the market for years, they probably also have a group of users who have defaulted to using them but are frustrated by the experience. The genius of niches is they are too small for large competitors, allowing a nimble entrepreneur the breathing room to focus on an underserved audience. Once you’ve succeeded in that niche, you can leverage your success to establish credibility for your business to move into larger markets.
We can’t multitask. If you’re playing with your kids and working on your iPhone you’re not really working or playing – you’re doing both poorly.
See you next week💜
